JOHANNESBURG - After nearly a year of waiting, South Africa is finally one step closer to appointing a new Deputy Chief Justice.

The Judicial Services Commission recommended Gauteng Judge President, Dunstan Mlambo, for the role after completing interviews with three nominees.

The position has been vacant since Justice Mandisa Maya was appointed Chief Justice in 2024.
