GOVERNMENT WARNS AGAINST BLOCKING OF ACCESS TO HEALTH SERVICES
JOHANNESBURG - Government has condemned the growing trend of foreign nationals, being denied access to healthcare at public facilities.
Several organisations, including Operation Dudula and March and March, have been involved in blocking migrants and asylum seekers from entering clinics and hospitals.
On Thursday, tensions flared when a group of foreign nationals retaliated, prompting police intervention.
While government acknowledges public frustration over strained healthcare services, it urges communities to respect the rule of law and uphold human dignity.
Public Order Police have now been deployed to maintain calm at affected facilities.
This has also reignited debate over undocumented migrants and their access to basic services.
